Story Excerpt

At last, she let him go. It was a bitter parting for him; all he wanted to do was hold her forever. Someday.
“Well, now that you’re here, let me tell you what I found. While you two were away packing the last of Shanna’s things, I paid a visit to our library under the manor. I thought perhaps I could find something that might help us discover who your father was, or where he might have gone. Instead I came across a legend.”
He now had their full attention. Max was still finding it difficult to concentrate on anything but Shanna’s voluptuous form. His cock ached for her.
“What legend?” Shanna asked with her flawless pink lips.
“The Legend of the Cryptis.” As he spoke, Max turned the dark podium toward his companions. A dark book bound in night-blue leather was opened to a page with an intricately -carved dagger drawn in an exquisite style.
“Cryptis?” Robin asked. “Why does that name sound familiar?”
“Because we looked for it ourselves,” Max replied, “years ago.”
Max looked down at the page, studying the exacting detail of the image. The blade curved sharply into a polished hilt that could have been ivory, or bone.
“The Cryptis is an ancient object of incredible power. It has many uses, but for those of us in the Knights, Celestial or Oblivion, it comes into its full capacity.”
“What does it do?” Shanna asked, her eyes locked on the drawing. Max’s eyes were locked on her.
“It allows a Triumvirate to expand their powers with only two members.”
Shanna took a moment to consider that. After glancing sidelong at Robin, she trained her intense gaze on Max.
“You looked for this?”
“Indeed we did, but not to use it. The power of the Cryptis is dark and corrupting.; Aas Celestial Knights we could never use it without becoming perverted ourselves. Years ago, when the Oblivion Knights came to this area, I believed they might have been looking for it. Robin and I searched the entire town and far beyond, hoping to discover it first. When we failed, we assumed the Oblivion Knights had as well, and gave up the pursuit. I hadn’t thought of it again until I returned to the library in the manor, looking for clues of your father.”
His explanation served as a momentary distraction to the throbbing in his loins. As soon as he finished speaking, his passion for Shanna flared anew. She was all he wanted, all he needed. His whole body began to ache for her.
“Well, what is this place?” she asked.
“This is an archive built centuries ago. Robin and I discovered it recently, but have only just begun to delve into it. If we’d known about it earlier, perhaps we’d have been able to discover the whereabouts of the Cryptis.”
“Well, you know about it now. So where is this knife?”
Max smiled at Shanna’s brashness, a smile that came from the depths of his soul, and spoke of his love.
“I still haven’t discovered that yet. But I have managed to find some clues.”
Max pulled another book from one of shelves along the far wall. He noticed Shanna’s eyes locked on the binding that was the same night -blue as the tome with the image of the Cryptis.
“Demon -hide,.” Max offered in explanation .
Max thumbed through pages, finally stopping toward the back of the new book.
“This book is an account of a broken Triumvirate. They fled here from Europe sometime in the thirteen -hundreds, before the European explorers. They managed to evade the Native Americans, and finally found this place, deep in the forest. Some of these books are part of their collection.”
Robin stood next to his friend and master, perusing the open pages.
“What have you discovered?”
“The broken Triumvirate had an artifact with them. It was why they left the old country.” Max continued. “Though this book does not say what it was the two men carried, it is definite that they fled to keep it out of the hands of the Oblivion Knights. It is quite possible this object was the Cryptis.”
Shanna nodded.
“What makes you think the Oblivions would start looking for it again?”
“Your refusal to join them will make them desperate,.” Max replied. He shuddered at the mere thought of Shanna being captured by them again, held away from his arms, and his heart. “If they find it, they will surely challenge us.”
“So what?.” Shanna said flippantly. “There’s no way they can beat us, even with this fancy knife.”
Max smiled at her brazenness.
“Perhaps not. But such a conflict could expose us to the outside world. Above all, we must keep this war a secret. You can imagine mankind’s reaction should our existence be revealed.”
“You mean the Triumvirate’s, or the vampires’?” she asked.
“Either.”
Max was finding it harder and harder to concentrate with this stunning beauty standing before him. His body burned, and his heart ached.
Robin was still studying the book Max had brought.
“You mentioned some clues earlier.”
Robin’s question brought Max back to the matter at hand.
“Ah, yes. They seem to have left some clues as to where they hid this artifact. Keep in mind this is some six or seven hundred years ago. S, some landmarks may have changed.”
Max flipped several pages in the demon-bound tome.
“Okay, here’s something odd.”
Max read it aloud.
One to find, two to get, a third to see their needs are met.
The flow of power, eddies still, and you shall find the crystal will.

Max looked up to see his companions stuck in an odd daze, as though he’d just spellbound them. He tried not to smile.

Adult Excerpt

There was no time to find a nice, clean place on the ground, nor would their quickly growing passion allow them to search for one. Within a second, they were in each other’s arms.
Shanna swam in the desire reflected in Robin’s eyes. Her heart raced under that gaze, seeing in him how badly he wanted her.
She wanted him just as bad.
His lips caressed hers. A shock went through Shanna as their tongues quickly intertwined. Every breath grew their passion exponentially. Robin’s hands explored every inch of Shanna’s ample body. She had to have him inside her. She had to have him now.
Robin began unbuttoning Shanna’s blouse. She did the same for him. Shanna’s bra nearly snapped off as Robin undid the clasps. His warm lips closed on her erect nipples. While engaged with one supple breast, Robin held the other, firmly and gently caressing.
Passion flowed between them and over Shanna in a wave of pure heat, filling her body from head to toe. Shanna’s pussy was wet. After touching her clit in a coquettish act of self-pleasure, Shanna raised those fingers to Robin’s waiting lips. After sucking lightly, she knew he had to have more.
Laying her gently across the ground, Robin undid Shanna’s pants and slid them down past her generous hips and her well-toned calves. Her panties were soaked. Robin smiled as he leaned up, kissed her passionately, and then slid those down as well.
Heat shot from Shanna’s breasts as Robin kissed each in turn. Warmth followed his lips as he traced a straight line from her nipples down her belly. Hovering over her trembling mound for only a moment, Robin dove in to her waiting snatch.
Lightning passed through Shanna as Robin’s tongue lightly caressed her clit. Each stroke, up and down, sent another shock through her body. Each motion elicited an almost desperate moan for more, more please.
Soon her entire clit was encircled by his warm lips. Shocks grew into waves of pleasure each time he pulled gently on her quivering flesh. Orgasm threatened to overwhelm her, but she needed him inside her, wanted to come on him, with him.
As if her needs mimicked hisown, Robin moved slowly up, kissing a belly Shanna was once ashamed of, but no longer.
Somehow, he’d gotten out of his pants as he was licking her.
Robin’s rock-hard cock called to her and she simply had to reach out and hold it, feel his massive size in her hand. She felt every heartbeat course through his dick as she softly stroked him. She couldn’t wait long. She had to have him now.
Shanna’s legs opened, inviting him in like the nectar she was to his hummingbird. Robin’s lips met hers as, after pausing a moment that seemed like an eternity, he slid his great hardness inside her.
His cock seemed to fill her very soul. Heat, excitement, love and desire all seemed to emanate for a moment from deep within her pelvis.
Craving pulled her spirit every time he withdrew from her sweet pussy, and passion covered her being each time he thrust within her. Shanna looked deep into Robin’s eyes, saw his love and desire there, and wrapped her legs around his, drawing him in even deeper. She wanted to come, needed to come.
Robin’s love shone on his face. She saw his need there as well.
“Come with me, baby,” Shanna managed to say between deep, heated breaths.
“I want to. I am. Oh, God, Shanna you feel so fucking good!”
Robin’s thrusts brought Shanna to the brink, and then they tumbled together over the cliffs of desire. Shanna could feel him get even harder within her, and when he came inside her she felt every squirt. Shanna’s pussy clamped down tight, his thrusts calling even stronger orgasms within her at each movement. Her ecstasy seemed never-ending as Robin continued to push deep inside her, his own orgasm seeming to go on even longer than hers.
Robin slowed at last. Shanna felt him going soft inside her and smiled, happy to have taken all his passion into her.
Their love blossomed even more in those moments.
Suddenly Shanna felt a presence, nearby but not too close.
Robin noticed her sudden change from ecstatic to curious.
“What is it?”
Shanna carefully searched the forest before she replied.
“I can feel Max now.”
The lover’s act had indeed called forth part of the power within the Triumvirate. Shanna closed her eyes and concentrated. The presence became stronger.
“Where is he?” Robin asked impatiently. Shanna held her answer, still absorbed in stretching her feelings.
“He’s nearby. C’mon. Let’s hurry.”
Robin looked dazed.
“What’s the matter?” she asked as Shanna looked for and found her clothes.
“Sorry,” he replied as he shook the bewilderment from his head. “I–I mean, we just.”
“I know,” Shanna replied, kneeling down to look into his deep green eyes. “I still feel you too. I’d like nothing better than to make love again, except we’re missing one important person. I love him too, and he’s lost. We have to find him.”
Robin nodded in agreement.
“You’re right, of course. I’m sorry. You just have this effect on me, you’re so beautiful.”
Robin’s eyes were drinking in her full, voluptuous frame, outlined now in the waning sunlight.
Shanna smiled. “Come on.”

Blog Hop - Tour Stop -Introducing Suzette Cauler

Hey everyone. Today at the Reading Paradise, we're visited by a great erotic romance author, the very talented Suzette Cauler.

Suzette's Bio:Suzette Rose Cauler has loved books (all types really) for as long as she can remember. As a child, she'd get lost in books for hours, using a flashlight to read under the covers long past bedtime. She read her first romance novel as a preteen and was immediately hooked by the swoon-worthy heroes and daring, spunky damsels. Though her reading tastes have definitely matured, Suzette continues to enjoy romance novels, especially those of the erotic, paranormal, fantasy, or historical variety. She writes almost as voraciously as she reads and typically falls head over heels in love with her heroes.

Though everyday types of romantic situations do appeal to her, stories that include adventure, intrigue, or danger have always made Suzette's heart go pitter patter. If they incorporate some science fiction too, she is even happier. You'll find elements like these in most of her stories as well as strong heroines who can fight their own battles but sometimes enjoy letting someone else take the lead.

Suzette lives on the East Coast with five special people who help keep her spirit young and her imagination fresh.

Don't miss Taking Chances, her MF Paranormal romance, or The Secret-Keeper's Choice, an MFM paranormal romance published by Siren!

We thank each and every one of you for stopping by today, and hope you enjoy Suzette's great novels!

STORY EXCERPT

Shanna paused a moment in the aisle to straighten the ceramic skulls. Their grinning visages seemed to laugh at her. An urge to turn them all around flew through her, but they would hardly sell that way. She narrowed her eyes back at them. Their grimaces remained, unmoved.
The shop was empty, quite unusual for a full moon night. Her store, the Smiling Jack, was the only gothic curio shop in the small town of Heston, Missouri. Jack stood for Jack ‘O Lantern, as the sign with the smiling pumpkin above the door demonstrated. Ordinarily this time of month was busy, with all the Goth kids in town coming in to browse the various wares the shop had on offer. But, for whatever reason, tonight the shop was empty.
It was not, however, the absence of the adolescent thrift-buyers that had her so nervous. Her once-a-month visitor was late, and she’d planned for this night for so long, he just couldn’t skip out on her now.
The young man’s name was Robin, a fact she’d learned only after building up the confidence to ask him after his fourth visit to the shop. Dark-blond hair fell to one side of a ruggedly handsome face marked by deep-blue, soulful eyes that held Shanna firmly in their grasp every time they met. He always wore the same black silk shirt and dark pants, and somehow they never seemed to fade. The black was as deep and rich as the first time she laid eyes on his handsome frame. Wiry muscles honed to perfection wrapped the arms that fell out of that dark silk, and his leg muscles were equally proportioned, if the way his pants fit him were any indication. His package bulged with manhood, a fact she noticed upon his first visit, and had not failed see each visit hence.
How many times had she fantasized about seeing what hung behind those black silk trousers? How many times would he have to come in before she would build up the courage to ask him out herself?
Shanna’s confidence wasn’t always the highest. Though she’d always thought herself to be flatteringly curvy, most of the boys, and later men she went out with labeled her far less positively. Try as she might not to let their small opinions bother her, some of their negativity had always stuck with her.
But something about Robin just seemed different. His smile was always kind, his small talk affectionate. He winked at her after buying his monthly item, and her heart fluttered each and every time.
Shanna stood behind the counter, watching the full moon make its trek across the night sky. Her eyes darted incessantly to the darkened street, hoping to see the object of her affection before he made his entrance. Knowing he was imminent would give her time to muster her courage.
Despite her acute watch, she was still surprised when the little bell above the door rang, indicating a visitor had arrived. How he’d made it past her vigil, she never understood, though in the end it meant little. He was here at last, and now was the time to make herself known.
“Good evening, Shanna,” Robin began in his light voice. “Sorry I’m late. I got held up. I hope you hadn’t given up on me.”
Never!
“Oh, no. But I was just about to close up the shop. No one in tonight.” Shanna immediately thought that her response was the lamest thing that had ever come out of anyone’s mouth in the entire existence of humanity. Why couldn’t she form coherent thoughts when he was around?
“Well, I’m glad you waited on me.” Robin smiled as he slowly approached the counter. Shanna allowed herself a quick glance, taking in his masculine form, her eyes resting on his nethers for just a second. Shanna’s heart was beating wildly. This was it. She was going to ask him out, assert herself upon the man she wanted. She opened her mouth to force the words from her lips.
“The usual thing, I guess?” Shanna winced, and hoped he didn’t see it. That wasn’t what she wanted to say!
“Of course.” His easy smile disarmed her completely. Shanna lost her train of thought in his dreamy eyes for a moment. Unconsciously, Shanna reached down beneath the counter to retrieve the box of black candles that were always Robin’s only request. She hadn’t even bothered to stock them on the shelves in the last couple of months, since Robin bought them all anyway. Shanna summoned her sweetest smile as she pushed the box forward. She hadn’t noticed that her eyes had stayed locked on him the whole time.
Robin pushed the two twenty-dollar bills he always paid with across the counter. Shanna reached out to collect them, her fingers brushing lightly against his. Robin looked down at her contact and back up, his easygoing smile planted firmly on his rosy red lips.
“Thank you, as always.” Robin began in his light-toned, sensual manner. “By the way, I love the shirt you have on tonight.”
“Oh, thank you,” Shanna replied, pushing the words from her mouth. Shanna’s stomach was knotted as tight as a drum. Her mouth was dry, though she wanted to wet it with his sweet cum. This was it, the chance, her chance.
“Um, you have a nice shirt, too.” No! That’s not it! That’s not what I want to say! Don’t listen to my words, please read my thoughts! I want you, I love you. Oh, please see that!
Shanna’s dry lips refused to utter another phrase.
“Well, thank you. This old thing is just something I threw on. Well, have a good evening, Shanna. Was so nice to see you again.”
“You, too. Thanks, and come back.”
Robin took one step back. His eyes were quick, but Shanna was almost certain he scoped her out from head to toe. Or was it just her imagination?
“Don’t I always?” Robin smiled, winked, and left her store just like he’d done so many other times before.

Then Shanna noticed the young woman was chained to the wall, an ominous sign indeed.
The door was as white as the walls, and could almost be missed if not for the brass knob. Shanna pulled, turned and tugged, all to no avail. The door wouldn’t budge.
Feeling as though she had little choice, Shanna knelt near the sleeping young woman. Hopefully she would have an answer.
“Hey. Sorry to wake you.” Shanna pulled gently on the young woman. Aside from the girl’s breathing becoming somewhat deeper, she did not respond. Shanna looked the young woman over, noticing her body, much as she would observe a man’s. A shudder went through her as she realized what she was doing. Shanna had seen beautiful women before, but had never felt a desire like this. She wondered what it could mean, if anything.
“Hey, are you okay?”
A low, sinister laugh came suddenly from behind her. Shanna turned her head to see Viktor Dukat standing in front of the door, just as it closed. Its movement was silent, explaining why she hadn’t heard him come in.
“She can’t hear you, dear; she’s quite drowsy at the moment. I expect the drugs will wear off at some point, but we should be finished by then.”
Shanna stood to face him.
“Where the hell am I? Who the hell is this? And who the fuck do you think you are that you can kidnap me from my home?”
“No doubt you know exactly who we are.’ Viktor’s voice was calm, his grin wicked. “We are your new family, Shanna Shane, though you may not yet realize it. Tell me, did the do-gooders tell you who, you really were, what you really were?”
“What they did or didn’t tell me is none of your fucking business. Now let me out of here.”
Shanna took a step toward him, but Viktor held up his hand. Despite her determination to leave, Shanna halted.
“Not yet, my dear. You’ve heard their offer, no doubt full of love and kisses and a pretty rose on your bed every day. That’s nothing compared to what the Oblivion can offer you. Power, raw and untamed, to make everything you’ve ever wanted happen, to make all your wildest dreams come true. Only we can unlock your full potential as a half-vampire, Shanna. What do the pathetic Celestials offer, hmm?”

“Love, and friendship.” Viktor waved off her answer.
